Patriarch Soban Sumbele Nkane Abel (fondly called Pa Sumbele) died on the 9th October 2025. He was a great devotee with a profound unwavering faith and selfless love for the SOBA nexus.
A crystal-clear example of his love for SOBA was illustrated when he hosted the Soba Buea Mother Chapter, literally on the threshold of his call to take his seat on the table of his ancestors. He was also a man of refreshing candour, possessed of an exceptional degree of self-discipline and spiritual ethics.
His intellect and moral integrity shone through the mystique of his personality, during a lifetime of nurturing and moulding young Cameroonians as a college Principal. Being a Principal was a function he carried with unassuming humility, and a role he performed with uncanny efficiency. He was rated for his relaxed approach to problems.
Pa Sumbele's demise has come to remind us that the world is temporal and life is short-lived. SBMC is struck with tearful commiseration and a deep sense of grief and loss.
The worst is death, and Death always has its day.
